Prawal Gurung is in Support of Matriarchy

The world-famous, Nepalese - American fashion designer Prawal Gurung has recently joined Global Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities campaign of Maiti Nepal. He is associated with Maiti Nepal since 2011, then he was a Goodwill Ambassador. That's why he has been advocating gender equality.
He shares how glad he is to join together band campaign of Maiti Nepal once again as an Ambassador on his social media.  He is endorsing the bands made by women who have been rescued from trafficking in Nepal by Maiti Nepal. He defines and explains the problem of patriarchy.

He writes in his Instagram posting his picture with the band on his
"I’m so proud to join @togetherbandofficial as an Ambassador for Global Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities. To me inequality, means to engage in a blind support and celebration of the patriarchy. When I consider the majority of the world’s problems that we have faced historically and continue to grapple with today, they are all related to the patriarchy. This is especially true when the power positions are all occupied by men, particularly white straight males, or privileged males."

He directly implies value of Matriarchy over patriarchy. He supports the idea for the rights of women especially trans women, women of colour. Their rights to hold a position of power and decision making should be preserved. He thinks going forward means to dismantle patriarchy and establish matriarchy. He adds on his IG

"The only way forward is DISMANTLING PATRIARCHY and celebrating MATRIARCHY. To me this means that the matriarchy, is taken in the literal sense where women, especially women of colour and trans women, are in positions of power and wield decision making control."

During the time of COVID-19 we got to witness other issues like black lives matter and income inequalities hence he thinks the solution to all these is matriarchal energy. He thinks the energy heals and nurtures creating an inclusive society.

"Matriarchy, also means a celebration of feminine energy that this universe desperately needs. For centuries patriarchal energy’s negative side, which I associate with greed, delusional ambition, hunger for power and apathy have ruled our world. Now, in this particular time in history as we confront the crisis of COVID -19, extremely pertinent issues like black lives matter and income inequalities on so many levels, we must answer the wake up call for us to embrace what I characterize as matriarchal energy: nurturing, empathy, compassion, intentional leadership, sustainability, inventions, and spirituality. This energy is more healing, inclusive, and celebratory of differences. The world desperately needs this now. If we can’t really have this important conversation about dismantling the patriarchy and replacing it with the healing energy of matriarchy, then we are missing a very important point, and a key ingredient towards achieving a truly inclusive society."

While talking about the way to set a forward gear to grow he shares that togetherband can create awareness to rightful endeavors. He is endorsing the bands made by women who have been rescued from trafficking in Nepal. He acknowledges and tags Maiti Nepal while he urges everyone to join the cause in his IG.

"#togetherbands come in pairs to spread awareness about the Global Goals so I’m sharing mine with all of you. They are made by women who have been rescued from trafficking in my home country Nepal, so as you can imagine this is close to my heart. I have spent time with the women at the project where they are made and it’s truly changing lives. Check out the amazing work of @maitinepal and @rokpa_international & Join us!
