Cover Letter
A strong cover letter should be clear, tailored to the job, and concise (usually one page). Instead of repeating your résumé, explain why you're a good fit and what value you can bring to the organization.
A good structure is:
1. Header
1. Your name
2. Phone number
3. Email address
4. Date
5. Employer's name and company (if known)
2. Greeting
1. Dear Hiring Manager,
2. Dear Ms./Mr. [Last Name], if you know the recipient.
3. Opening Paragraph
1. State the position you're applying for.
2. Mention where you found the job.
3. Briefly explain why you're interested.
4. Body Paragraph(s
· Highlight your most relevant skills and experience.
· Provide one or two specific examples of achievements.
· Show how your qualifications match the job requirements.
· Explain how you can contribute to the organization.
· Closing Paragraph
· Reaffirm your interest.
· Thank the employer for considering your application.
· Express your willingness to attend an interview.
1. Professional Closing
1. Sincerely,
2. Kind regards,
3. Best regards,
Tips for an effective cover letter
· Keep it to 3–4 short paragraphs (250–400 words).
· Customize it for each job application.
· Focus on what you can offer the employer.
· Use professional and positive language.
· Include measurable achievements when possible (e.g., "managed a team of 10 volunteers," "increased event attendance by 30%").
· Proofread carefully for grammar and spelling.
· Avoid copying your résumé word for word.

A cover letter is most effective when it answers three questions:
· Why this company?
· Why are you a good fit?
· Why should the employer interview you?
